The house serves men only, and Renaissance Ranch built its entire program around that restriction, arguing that men and women recover differently and do better in gender-specific housing. Utah Recovery Residence Licensing

Utah requires every recovery residence to hold a license through the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Office of Licensing, under Utah Code 26B-2-117. That license is mandatory statewide, unlike the voluntary certification systems some other states use, and it gives the state direct authority to inspect the house.

Renaissance Ranch was started by individuals who went through addiction recovery themselves, and the company still operates on that model. The organization also holds CARF accreditation, a national behavioral health standard, and belongs to the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers.
