About this Recovery Home

Spanish Oaks House is a men's sober living home in San Antonio, Texas, in Bexar County. It sits on Spanish Oaks in the city's medical center area and is one of seven houses operated by New Day Sober Living, founded in 2017 by Ben Hammond and Clark Cadwallader. Residents move through New Day's three-phase program, which is built to carry someone from early stabilization to independent living without changing address along the way.

A Men's Sober House on Spanish Oaks

Spanish Oaks House serves men only, and every shared space in the house runs on that single fact: one curfew, one set of house meetings, one accountability structure. The property includes a game room and a common living room, giving residents a place to spend an evening together outside their bedrooms, which matters most in the earliest weeks when idle time is the hardest part of the day.

New Day's Three-Phase Recovery Housing Model

New Day runs its houses on a PHP, IOP and Alumni progression. A man typically starts in the PHP phase with a 9 p.m. weekday curfew, a sponsor requirement within seven days and no overnight passes, then moves into IOP once he is working or in school at least 25 hours a week, with a later curfew and two approved overnight passes a month. Alumni residents carry the most independence: an 11 p.m. weekday curfew, up to four passes a month and an expectation that they now sponsor others working the same steps.

Clinical Support Through New Day Recovery Services

New Day pairs its housing with a clinical arm, New Day Recovery Services, which supplies outpatient treatment, licensed recovery coaches, therapists, psychiatrists and medical providers. A resident at Spanish Oaks House can draw on that same clinical bench without transferring his care to a new provider every time his housing phase changes.

Recovery Housing in Bexar County

San Antonio is both the city and the county seat of Bexar County, and the medical center corridor near Spanish Oaks holds a dense concentration of outpatient clinics, hospital campuses and entry-level employers. That density is useful to someone rebuilding a daily schedule around work, meetings and appointments inside a single part of the city.
