About this Recovery Home
Haltown House is a men's sober living home on Haltown Drive in San Antonio, Texas, in Bexar County. It is one of seven residences run by New Day Sober Living, an operator founded in 2017 by Ben Hammond and Clark Cadwallader that has grown into a full network of San Antonio recovery housing built around a single three-phase program.
A Men's Sober House on Haltown Drive
Haltown House serves men only, in a house laid out with bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs, a shared kitchen, a meeting room, a meditation room, an office and a garden. The garden and meditation room give residents a quiet outdoor option that a plain bedroom-and-living-room layout does not, which matters on the days recovery feels less like a program and more like waiting out the clock.
New Day's Three-Phase Recovery Housing Model
Every resident at Haltown House enters through New Day's PHP phase, with a 9 p.m. weekday curfew, a sponsor secured within a week and full participation in clinical programming. Moving into the IOP phase requires at least 25 hours a week of work or school and unlocks two approved overnight passes a month. The final Alumni phase asks a man to sponsor others as he approaches independent living, with a later curfew and up to four passes a month.
A Meditation Room and Garden Inside a Structured House
Not every sober house sets aside a dedicated meditation room, and pairing one with an outdoor garden gives Haltown House a physical space for the parts of recovery that are not meetings or drug tests. It is a small design choice with an outsized effect on a house full of men adjusting to early sobriety.
Recovery Housing in Bexar County
San Antonio anchors Bexar County, and a house within the city limits keeps a resident close to the outpatient clinics, courts and job centers that New Day's clinical partner, New Day Recovery Services, works alongside every day.
New Day Sober Living's Other Houses in San Antonio
Haltown House is one of seven New Day addresses, joined by Spanish Oaks House on 1527 Spanish Oaks, Traditions on 2038 Oak Vista, Arthur's Place on 2635 Pebble Dawn, Briar Oak on 607 Briar Oak St, Peggy's Promise on 14107 Gray Wing, and Anna's Grace on 14131 Vantage Hill. The network gives a resident room to change houses without changing operators.
