HUMILITY HOUSE Men's Recovery House

About this Recovery House

Humility House is a men's sober living home in Portsmouth, Ohio, certified by Ohio Recovery Housing and serving Scioto County. It is certified at the Managed level and holds five beds.

A Managed Sober House Named for a Recovery Principle

The name reflects a value common to recovery programs, and the house keeps to the operator's standard five-bed size, small enough for a house manager to track everyone closely. The residence is wheelchair accessible as well.

Managed-Level Certification Requirements at This Recovery Home

Ohio Recovery Housing's Managed level places staff oversight over a household that residents run day to day, while clinical treatment stays with outside providers. Certification requires a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process outside the house.

Portsmouth's River Heritage and Its Recovery Housing

Portsmouth grew up as a river city on the Ohio, and its history as a shipping and manufacturing hub still shows in the warehouses and rail lines along the water. That older economy has left behind entry-level and trade work a resident can pursue while living in the house.
