How the Oxford House model works

Unlike housing organized around a permanent staff hierarchy, an Oxford House is democratically managed by the people who live there. Members are responsible for household finances, duties, and decisions, and the home is expected to remain financially self-supporting and completely drug- and alcohol-free. The model combines independent living with peer accountability and shared responsibility.

Contacting the house and requesting an interview

The Oxford House interview is conducted through the individual residence, not through a centralized guarantee of placement. Existing members evaluate applicants and decide who joins the household. Confirm the listed interview schedule, then ask about the equal expense share, move-in funds, house responsibilities, recovery-related expectations, and how quickly a decision is typically communicated.
