About this Recovery House
Iliff House is a men's sober living home on East McMillan Street in Cincinnati, Ohio, in Hamilton County. It is one of eight residences that New Foundations Recovery Housing certifies at the Managed level, run by a nonprofit that has operated recovery housing in the city since 2009.
A Men's Sober House on East McMillan Street
Iliff House serves men only, in a brick two-family home built in 1921 near the University of Cincinnati and downtown. The property was renovated in 2019 specifically to support medication-assisted treatment, which is the more significant fact for most residents comparing houses: not every sober home accepts a resident on Suboxone or methadone, and this one was built out to do so.
Ohio Recovery Housing Certification at the Managed Level
Iliff House carries certification through Ohio Recovery Housing, the state's NARR affiliate, at the Managed level. That level describes a peer-managed home with defined structure and outside clinical care, and certification itself commits the operator to a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules, and a complaint process outside the house.
Support for Medication-Assisted Recovery
Residents taking prescribed Suboxone or methadone are accepted and supported at Iliff House, a policy the operator built into the 2019 renovation rather than adding as an afterthought. Losing housing over a prescribed medication is a common way a recovery gets derailed, and a MAT-friendly home removes that risk specifically.
Recovery Housing in Cincinnati and Hamilton County
Cincinnati is the seat of Hamilton County and the region's center for outpatient treatment, employment and transit, and a University Heights address keeps all three within a short trip. Men leaving treatment anywhere in the county tend to look at Cincinnati's near-east-side neighborhoods first for exactly that reason.
New Foundations' Other Certified Homes in Cincinnati
New Foundations Recovery Housing runs seven other certified residences across Cincinnati for men and women, in addition to two more across the river in Kentucky. A resident who needs a different house, a different gender split, or simply a fresh set of housemates can raise it with an operator that already knows him, rather than starting over with an unfamiliar one.
New Foundations is a spiritually based safe place for those in recovery. We focus on a continued transition into recovery after successfully detoxing or being discharged from the court system. Sometimes called sober living, or a halfway house, we provide group housing with the main goal of recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is the place for anyone who is seeking a new way of life, free from addiction.
