Garys Journey Men's Recovery House

About this Recovery House

Garys Journey is a men's sober living home in Chesapeake, Ohio, a Lawrence County village on the Ohio River, certified by Ohio Recovery Housing at the Peer-Run level.

A Small Peer-Run Sober House

Four beds keeps Garys Journey small enough that residents run their own daily routine closely together, which is the point of Peer-Run certification: no live-in staff, with residents themselves holding the household's structure and each other's accountability. The property is not wheelchair accessible.

What Certification Requires of This Recovery Residence

Even without on-site staff, the house meets the same obligations Ohio Recovery Housing sets at every level: a published code of ethics, fees and rules disclosed before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process that runs outside the house.

Chesapeake Recovery Housing on the Ohio River

Chesapeake sits on the Ohio River across from the Huntington, West Virginia area, a smaller Lawrence County village than Ironton or South Point but within easy reach of both for work, courts and medical care.

Part of an Eight-House Sober Home Network

Restoring Hope Recovery Care certifies seven other residences, most clustered in South Point with one more in Franklin Furnace. The street address is not published, and placement runs through the operator.
