About this Recovery Home
Zia Recovery Center is a recovery residence in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the seat of Doa Ana County, and it houses clients in homes and apartments across the city through every stage of treatment.
Sober Living Housing Spread Across Las Cruces
The model here is distributed. Clients live in ordinary residential homes and apartment-style units in safe, accessible parts of the city, and the clinical program runs from the center on North Alameda Boulevard. Living in a house on a normal street while attending treatment is a rehearsal for the life a person is going back to, and it removes the institutional jolt that comes at discharge from a single-building program. Staff are present around the clock in every housing location.
Recovery Housing Through Detox, Residential Care and Outpatient Treatment
Clients stay in Zia housing across the whole arc of care: withdrawal management, residential treatment, and the intensive outpatient program. One move in, one move out. When someone is ready for independent living, the transition is out of the housing while the therapy, the peer group and the Community Aftercare Program stay in place. That aftercare runs as a social space for alumni with daily support services and weekly group meetings, and it covers the point in recovery where most people fall away.
Accreditation and New Mexico Recovery Residence Standards
Zia Recovery Center is accredited by CARF and belongs to the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers. CARF sends surveyors on site to measure a program against published standards for governance, service delivery and safety, and renews accreditation on a fixed cycle. Both credentials attach to the treatment organization. New Mexico certifies no recovery residences and has no affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, so no separate credential exists for the housing itself. In a state with no register at all, an accredited operator is the strongest external check available.
A Recovery Program Built by People Who Recovered
The organization describes itself as a program built by those who have recovered, for those wanting to recover, and its local standing reflects that. It was named the best rehab center in the Mesilla Valley in the Las Cruces Bulletin's 2026 readers' awards. Insurance is accepted, including the major commercial carriers and Medicaid, and payment options are published before admission.
Doa Ana County Sober Living in the Mesilla Valley
Las Cruces is the county seat of Doa Ana County and the second largest city in New Mexico, in the Mesilla Valley along the Rio Grande. New Mexico State University, the county courthouse, the region's hospitals and nearly all of southern New Mexico's outpatient providers sit inside the city. People come here from Deming, Truth or Consequences, Hatch and Anthony because the appointment exists here and not at home. Recovery housing in the southern part of the state is concentrated in this valley, and an address in Las Cruces keeps a resident within reach of the court, the clinic and the job at the same time.
