About this Recovery House
The H.O.U.S.E. – Cardinal is a coed sober living home in Webb City, Missouri, in Jasper County. It is one of the recovery homes run by The H.O.U.S.E., Inc., a southwest Missouri organization that has housed people in early recovery since 1996.
A Coed Sober House in Webb City
The Cardinal house takes men and women, which is less common in Missouri recovery housing than single-gender housing and it changes who a resident lives beside. Household routines, meetings and chores are shared across the house. For someone whose support network already includes people of both genders, and for couples in separate programs trying to stay in the same town, a coed sober house removes a barrier that single-gender housing puts up. Webb City sits directly between Joplin and Carthage, so the house is inside the labor market of the larger city while keeping the quieter street grid of a town of about 13,000.
How This Recovery Home Is Run
The H.O.U.S.E., Inc. describes its program as designed by people who came through addiction themselves, and that shows in how the houses operate. Structure comes from peers living under the same roof and the same expectations. Clinical treatment, counseling and prescribing happen with outside providers in Joplin, and residents keep those relationships when they move in. The organization calls itself the last house on the block, which is a plain statement about who it accepts: people who have run out of other addresses.
Recovery Housing in Jasper County and the Joplin Metro
Jasper County holds two courthouses, the county seat at Carthage and a second facility in Joplin, so a resident meeting a court obligation rarely travels far. Joplin carries the region's hospitals, Freeman Health System and Mercy, along with Missouri Southern State University and most of the area's outpatient behavioral health capacity. Webb City recovery housing puts a resident within a ten-minute drive of all of it while keeping rent pressure lower than downtown Joplin. Route 171 and Route 66 both run through the area, and the warehouse, retail and healthcare employers along those corridors hire the entry-level shifts people take in their first sober year.
What to Ask Before Moving Into This Webb City Sober House
Applications go through The H.O.U.S.E., Inc., and the questions worth asking are the practical ones: what the weekly fee covers, what is due at move-in, whether a manager lives on site, how bedrooms are assigned in a coed house, what happens after a relapse, and whether medication for opioid use disorder is accepted. Missouri does not license standalone recovery residences, and its Department of Mental Health licenses treatment programs instead, so those answers come from the operator directly.
