The household is women only. Residents hold jobs, pay their own bills, keep the house and take part in recovery meetings, and the program treats all four as the same obligation. Peer mentorship comes from Certified Peer Specialists working inside the organization, so the person helping a new resident through her first week has usually done the same week herself.

New Beginning Sanctuary asks for twelve months or longer. That length is the operator's central design decision. It gives a resident room to fail at something small, hold the bed, and try again, which is a very different proposition from a program where one bad week ends the housing. Zero tolerance still applies to drugs and alcohol.

Cost and Enrollment at This Sober House

Springfield residents pay a $200 enrollment fee, $125 for the first week and $125 a week thereafter. Fees are non-refundable and due before the weekly house meeting. Knowing the number before the intake call lets a family or a case manager work out whether a year is affordable, which is the calculation that actually decides most placements.
