About this Recovery House
Cornerstone is a men's sober living home in Kansas City, Missouri, in Jackson County, and at forty beds it is the largest single residence Healing House KC operates. The organization opened it in 2015, thirteen years after its 2002 founding, as its portfolio of Kansas City sober homes had grown large enough to need a property of this scale.
A Forty-Bed Men's Recovery Home
Forty beds puts Cornerstone in a different category than the typical eight- or ten-person sober house. A household this size supports a full staffing structure, a house hierarchy with peer leadership roles, and enough scale that a man arriving with nothing still finds an established routine already running around him. Healing House KC has operated Cornerstone since 2015 without interruption.
MCRSP and Missouri's Voluntary Standard
Missouri does not require sober living homes to certify. The Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers runs the state's voluntary accreditation as the NARR affiliate, obligating any residence that opts in to a published code of ethics, written fee and rule disclosure, and outside complaint review. Healing House KC carries NARR accreditation and Missouri Department of Mental Health certification across its portfolio, a higher bar than Missouri's own rules set for standalone recovery housing.
Kansas City's Scale Supports a Larger Sober House
A residence the size of Cornerstone depends on being in a city with the transit, job market and outpatient capacity to keep forty men connected to work and treatment at once. Kansas City, the seat of activity in Jackson County, is one of the few places in Missouri where a house this size makes practical sense, and that scale is why Healing House KC put its largest property there.
Part of a Fifteen-Home Kansas City Network
Cornerstone is one of nine men's residences inside Healing House KC's fifteen-home Kansas City portfolio, which also includes six women's houses and three supportive apartment buildings. A man who needs less structure than a forty-bed house provides, or simply a smaller group, has eight other men's and women's options inside the same organization to move toward.
Applying to Cornerstone in Kansas City
Placement runs through Healing House KC, not through Cornerstone on its own, and the organization's size means a formal, established intake process. Anyone applying should still expect the same disclosures that any MCRSP-certified Missouri sober living home owes an applicant in writing: cost, house rules, the relapse and discharge policy, and whether medication-assisted treatment is supported.
