Franklin Street is one of three women's houses in the Chelsea's House network and the only one located in Lynn itself, alongside the operator's Boston Street house nearby. Bedrooms are shared, which keeps the weekly fee down and puts residents in regular contact with each other during the hours structure matters most. Lynn's downtown and its MBTA commuter rail stop are both within easy reach on foot.

A Curfew That Starts Early on Weeknights

Residents at Franklin Street keep to a curfew of 11 p.m. on weeknights and midnight or 1 a.m. on weekends, on top of a mandatory weekly house meeting, three outside recovery meetings, and drug testing twice a week on a random schedule. Those hours are set at the operator level and apply the same way across every Chelsea's House address.

Level II Certification in Essex County

The Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing certifies this house at Level II, which requires a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules before move-in, and a complaint process independent of the house itself. Lynn has both certified sober houses and unregulated rooming arrangements, and certification is the one fact a prospective resident can verify in advance.

Part of the Chelsea's House Network

Chelsea's House takes its name from Robert Hinckley, remembered locally as "Chelsea Bob," a longtime leader in the Massachusetts recovery community.
