Paying for sober living in Louisiana
Typical sober living in Louisiana costs around $155 a week. Oxford House residents split the house's actual running costs equally rather than paying a set rent, so this home's share may be different — the house is the only source for its own figure. Statewide, median gross rent in Louisiana runs $1,064 a month. Where paying the share is not possible, state-funded help such as Permanent Supportive Housing and SSVF and HUD-VASH is the usual route. Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health is the state body to start with.
How the Oxford House model works, and how to apply
Oxford Houses are run by the people who live in them, funded by an equal share from each resident and kept free of alcohol and illicit drugs. New members are approved by the people already living there, so a listed opening is a reason to call rather than a bed held in anyone's name.
Recovery residence standards and oversight in Louisiana
Recovery housing in Louisiana operates without a state licence. Oxford House charters its own homes, so an Oxford House is usually not on a state affiliate's certified register. Both the federal Fair Housing Act and Louisiana Fair Housing Law (Louisiana Revised Statutes Section 51:2606) protect residents here.
