Cost of recovery housing in Louisiana
Typical sober living in Louisiana costs around $155 a week. Oxford Houses work differently: members divide the home's real costs between them rather than paying a fixed rent, so ask the house what its share comes to. For comparison, median gross rent across Louisiana is $1,064 a month. State funding such as Permanent Supportive Housing and SSVF and HUD-VASH exists for residents who cannot cover it themselves. The agency behind it is Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health.
What to know before calling an Oxford House
Oxford Houses are self-governing households, paid for by the members themselves and required to stay substance-free. New members are approved by the members themselves, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.
Recovery residence standards and oversight in Louisiana
There is no state licence for recovery residences in Louisiana. Oxford Houses run on a charter from Oxford House, Inc., not state certification, so expect this address to be missing from the state list.
