The Olive Tree Sober Living Coed Sober House

106 Rebecca Dr, Lafayette, Louisiana, 70508

About this Sober House

The Olive Tree Sober Living is a coed sober living home on Rebecca Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana, the seat of Lafayette Parish. It operates as a nonprofit recovery residence in Acadiana, housing men and women in early recovery from substance use.

A Coed Sober House on Rebecca Drive

Rebecca Drive sits in south Lafayette off the Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery corridors, in a residential district of single-family houses. South Lafayette is where most of the city's growth has gone, and the address puts a resident close to the medical offices along Kaliste Saloom, the retail and restaurant employment on Ambassador Caffery, and the grocery stores and pharmacies that daily life runs on. This part of the city is built for driving, so the first question to put to any house here is how residents without a vehicle get to work and to meetings.

A Nonprofit Recovery Residence and What That Implies

Operating as a nonprofit is a structural fact with consequences a resident can feel. A nonprofit has a board, a stated charitable purpose and annual filings, and it can accept donations and grant funding that a for-profit house cannot. In practice that often translates into a lower fee, or flexibility for a resident who loses a job mid-month. It also usually means less marketing and a slower phone. Someone comparing Lafayette sober houses should ask how the fee is set, whether any of it is subsidized, and what happens when a resident cannot pay a given week.

Coed Recovery Housing and the Three Policies That Matter

The house takes men and women. In a coed recovery residence the bedroom assignment policy, the rule on relationships between residents, and the visitor policy carry more weight than they do in a single-gender house, and all three should be handed over in writing before a move-in date is set. A coed house that has thought these through will say so in specific terms.

Certification of Sober Living Homes in Louisiana

Louisiana has no license, no registry and no inspection regime for recovery residences. Certification through the Louisiana Association of Recovery Residences is voluntary, the association is explicit that it is not a licensing authority, and it publishes no searchable list of certified homes. Separately, Lafayette Consolidated Government requires sober living operators in single-family RS-1 zoning to file a reasonable accommodation request and an annual certification form with the city, and the city publishes no list of the homes that have filed. Both of those turn into questions for the operator instead of records a resident can check.

Recovery Homes Serving Lafayette Parish and Acadiana

Lafayette is the parish seat and the commercial center of Acadiana in south central Louisiana, and its recovery housing serves a region much larger than the city. People finishing treatment in Vermilion, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Landry and Acadia Parishes come here for the same three reasons every time: employers who hire, transit that runs, and meetings that happen daily. Lafayette also holds the Fifteenth Judicial District Court and the region's hospitals, so a resident can satisfy a court obligation and keep a clinical appointment without leaving the parish.

What to Ask This Lafayette Sober House Before Applying

Ask what the weekly or monthly fee covers, how bedrooms are assigned, whether a house manager lives on site, how drug testing is handled, what happens after a relapse, and whether residents on prescribed medication for opioid use disorder are accepted. Louisiana's Department of Health maintains the state directory of licensed treatment and outpatient providers for anyone who needs clinical care alongside the housing.
