What sober living costs in Louisiana, and how residents pay for it
Expect sober living in Louisiana to run about $155 a week. Oxford House works on an equal share of what the home actually costs, not a set rent, so treat that as the market rather than this address. By way of comparison, Louisiana's median gross rent is $1,064 monthly. State funding such as Permanent Supportive Housing and SSVF and HUD-VASH exists for residents who cannot cover it themselves. Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health is the state body to start with.
What to know before calling an Oxford House
Oxford Houses are run by the people who live in them, funded by an equal share from each resident and free of alcohol and drugs. New members are accepted by the members themselves, so an opening is not the same thing as an acceptance.
How recovery housing is regulated in Louisiana
Louisiana does not license this kind of housing. This home is chartered by Oxford House, Inc. rather than certified by the state affiliate, so it will not normally be on the certified list.
