About this Sober House

Ball-Quantrell Jones Recovery Center for Women is a sober living home in Lexington, Kentucky, in Fayette County. It has operated as a residential recovery program for women since 2002 and is run by The Hope Center, a Lexington nonprofit that has provided recovery housing and treatment services since 1996.

A Women's Sober House on Versailles Road

This sober house sits on Versailles Road, one of the corridors that connects Lexington's downtown to its western neighborhoods, and it has served women in recovery from the same site for more than two decades. Longevity at one address matters in recovery housing: a program that has run continuously since 2002 has already worked out its referral relationships with local treatment providers and courts, which shortens the path from an intake call to a bed.

Kentucky's Mandatory Certification Law

Kentucky is one of a small number of states that requires recovery residences to be certified by law. Under KRS 222.508, state agencies, their contractors and health and behavioral health providers cannot refer someone to a recovery residence that is not certified through the Kentucky Recovery Housing Network. That law is what gives a court, a hospital discharge planner or a treatment center in Lexington a documented basis for a referral.

Recovery Housing Operated by The Hope Center

The Hope Center runs Ball-Quantrell Jones Recovery Center for Women alongside George Privett Recovery Center for Men, its residential program on West Loudon Avenue. Both houses share an operator with a long institutional history in Lexington, including work inside the Fayette County Detention Center and outpatient services that extend past housing alone. A woman referred here is entering a program with an established track record in the same city, not a standalone address with no backing.

A Fayette County Address for Women in Recovery

Lexington is the seat of Fayette County and the second-largest city in Kentucky, with a concentration of outpatient treatment providers, courts and public transit that smaller Bluegrass towns cannot match. For a woman coming out of detox or incarceration, that concentration means a recovery residence in Lexington puts appointments, meetings and eventually work within reach without requiring a car on day one.
