This sober house in Wabash occupies a home built around 1875 that spent decades as a single-family dwelling, a duplex and rental property before Indiana Landmarks bought it in 2020, renovated it, and donated it to Waypoint Wabash in 2022. Up to twelve women live in the house at a time alongside a house manager.

Structure and the Length of Stay

Women accepted into Waypoint typically stay a minimum of six months and up to twelve to eighteen months. Residents are expected to find employment, pay program fees, keep all therapy and court appointments, attend support groups and house meetings, complete chores and follow house rules. That combination gives the program a longer runway than a typical ninety-day sober living stay, built around residents rebuilding a life, beyond just staying sober day to day.

Indiana's DMHA Recovery Residence list designates Waypoint at Level II, the tier for peer-supported housing with defined structure. A house manager on site and a written set of expectations for every resident are consistent with what Level II designation is meant to reflect.
