About this Recovery Home

Cledy's House of Hope in Rock Falls, Illinois, is a sober living home for women. The residence sits in Whiteside County, in the Sauk Valley of northwest Illinois.

Women's Recovery Housing on Martin Road

Cledy's House of Hope is at 430 Martin Road in Rock Falls and is operated by Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery. The residence opened in May 2025 and houses women.

The Woman the House Is Named For

The residence honors Cledy Rumley, whom the operator describes as a devoted mother and a champion of hope. Naming a recovery residence after a person rather than a street or a slogan sets an expectation about how the household is meant to treat the women inside it, and it gives the house a story a resident can repeat to anyone who asks where she lives.

Two Donated Buildings on Martin Road

Highlight Healthcare donated two buildings at 430 Martin Road to Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery, and one of them became Cledy's House of Hope. A house that exists because a local organization handed over property starts from a different cost position than one carrying a mortgage, and that shows up in what the operator is able to fold into a residency.

Inside the Residence

The house is arranged around a communal kitchen, a laundry room and a shared gathering space. Shared cooking and shared laundry are where much of the daily contact between residents happens. A woman arriving on her own finds that the ordinary business of the day puts her in the same rooms as the rest of the household, which is the practical form peer support takes in a recovery residence.

A Bridge Between Treatment and Independent Living

Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery positions Cledy's House of Hope as a bridge between treatment and independent living. Residents follow individualized recovery plans, receive weekly peer recovery coaching at no additional cost, and have their progress reviewed on a bi-weekly cycle. Coaching that carries no separate charge is coaching a resident will actually use, and a plan written for one woman rather than for the house accounts for the fact that a discharge from treatment and a return to work rarely fall on the same schedule.

Recovery Residences in Whiteside County

Rock Falls is one of the twin cities of the Sauk Valley, facing Sterling across the Rock River, and Morrison is the Whiteside County seat. Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery serves Lee, Whiteside, DeKalb and Ogle counties from a base inside Whiteside County, and IAEC carries the operator's Legacy sober living homes on its register of certified Illinois recovery residences. The organization also runs Legacy Sober Living Home, a men's residence at 114 East Everett Street in Dixon.
