Idaho has no certifying body for recovery residences, no registry, and no affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Blaine County recovery housing is close to nonexistent outside this one program, so a man who wants to stay in the valley through early recovery has very few addresses to choose from.

Housing costs in the Wood River Valley are set by second-home buyers and seasonal renters, and a man leaving treatment on a service wage cannot compete with either. The usual result is a move down to the Magic Valley or the Treasure Valley, away from his job, his family and whatever support he has built. A structured men's house in Hailey removes that forced relocation. It keeps a resident inside the community where his work and his people already are, which is most of what early recovery runs on. Idaho's Department of Health and Welfare administers the behavioral health funding that reaches this part of the state.
