What a bed costs in Florida, and what help exists

Across Florida, sober living generally runs about $205 a week. Oxford House residents split the house's actual running costs equally rather than paying a set rent, so this home's share may be different — the house is the only source for its own figure. For scale, renting privately in Florida has a median gross rent of $1,669 a month. Florida Department of Children and Families is the state body to start with.

How the Oxford House model works, and how to apply

Oxford Houses are managed day to day by their residents, paid for by the members themselves and abstinence-based by rule. New members are taken on by a house vote, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

Is sober living regulated in Florida?

Recovery residences are not state-licensed in Florida. Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the state's NARR affiliate, offers voluntary certification. Oxford House charters its own homes, so an Oxford House is usually not on a state affiliate's certified register. The state's list of certified residences is published here. The federal Fair Housing Act applies, as does Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23).
