About this Recovery House

Real Recovery 1st Avenue South is a men's recovery home on 1st Avenue South in St. Petersburg, Florida, in Pinellas County. It sits in the western half of the city, minutes from Gulfport and a short run down 1st Avenue from downtown.

A St. Petersburg Sober Living Home West of Downtown

Men live here. The house is fully furnished, with renovated interiors, granite kitchen counters, large living and dining areas, high-speed internet, laundry and parking, and staff with recovery experience on site 24 hours a day. Random breathalyzer and drug tests run twice a week, and residents share household duties. Nobody is held to a fixed program length; length of stay follows the resident's own progress.

Pinellas County Recovery Housing and Life Without a Car

St. Petersburg is the largest city in Pinellas County, though the county seat is Clearwater, about twenty minutes north. That split matters in practice: county court and administrative business happens in Clearwater while most of the jobs, meetings and outpatient providers sit in St. Petersburg. PSTA runs the 1st Avenue corridors as its main east-west spine into downtown, and the SunRunner bus rapid transit line connects downtown to St. Pete Beach. A resident can hold a job, get to a meeting and reach a clinic without owning a vehicle.

One Predictable Monthly Cost at This Sober House

Fees are due the first business day of each month and include utilities, high-speed internet, cable, trash and all drug and breathalyzer testing. A one-time administration fee of $150 is due at intake. House cookouts and holiday dinners are covered.

Voluntary Certification for Florida Recovery Residences

The Florida Association of Recovery Residences is the only credentialing body the Department of Children and Families has approved for recovery residences, and Florida statute makes the program voluntary. Certification commits a house to a code of ethics, advance written disclosure of fees and rules, a written relapse and discharge policy and complaint review outside the household. Ask the operator about the current status of this specific address.
