What sober living costs in Florida, and how residents pay for it

Across Florida, sober living generally runs about $205 a week. Oxford Houses work differently: members divide the home's real costs between them rather than paying a fixed rent, so ask the house what its share comes to. Median gross rent in Florida, for comparison, is $1,669 a month. Florida Department of Children and Families is the state agency that oversees this funding.

What to know before calling an Oxford House

Oxford Houses are governed by their own residents, funded by an equal share from each resident and required to stay substance-free. New members are accepted by the people already living there, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

How recovery housing is regulated in Florida

Recovery housing in Florida operates without a state licence. Homes that want certification apply to Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the state NARR affiliate. Oxford Houses run on a charter from Oxford House, Inc., not state certification, so expect this address to be missing from the state list. The state's list of certified residences is published here.
