Sober living costs and rent help in Florida

Sober living in Florida typically runs around $205 a week. An Oxford House does not set a rent — members split what the house actually costs to run, so the figure here is a guide to the market, not to this home. Against that, the median gross rent in Florida is $1,669 a month. Florida Department of Children and Families is the state body to start with.

How an Oxford House is run

Oxford Houses are governed by their own residents, paid for by the members themselves and alcohol- and drug-free by charter. New members are voted in by a house vote, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

Is sober living regulated in Florida?

There is no state licence for recovery residences in Florida. Voluntary certification runs through Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the state's NARR affiliate. This home is chartered by Oxford House, Inc. rather than certified by the state affiliate, so it will not normally be on the certified list. See the state certified-residence list for homes that carry it. Residents are covered by the Fair Housing Act federally and by Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23).
