Sober living costs and rent help in Florida

In Florida, a bed in sober living commonly runs about $205 a week. Because Oxford House members share the home's real expenses instead of paying rent, this house's share may sit above or below that; only the residents can say. Median gross rent in Florida, for comparison, is $1,669 a month. Florida Department of Children and Families is where that funding sits.

What to know before calling an Oxford House

Oxford Houses are resident-governed homes, covered by the members' equal shares and kept free of alcohol and illicit drugs. New members are taken on by the people already living there, so a reported vacancy is a starting point, not a reservation.

Certification and oversight in Florida

Florida does not licence recovery residences as facilities. Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) runs the voluntary certification scheme as the state's NARR affiliate. Oxford Houses are chartered by Oxford House, Inc. rather than certified by a state affiliate, so this home will not usually appear on a state certification list. The certified-residence register for Florida is online here. Both the federal Fair Housing Act and Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23) protect residents here.
