Paying for sober living in Arizona

Typical sober living in Arizona costs around $195 a week. Oxford House residents split the house's actual running costs equally rather than paying a set rent, so this home's share may be different — the house is the only source for its own figure. Statewide, median gross rent in Arizona runs $1,543 a month. Help with the share is available through state programmes including AHCCCS Housing Program and H2O demonstration. That money is administered by Arizona Department of Health Services.

How Oxford House membership works

Oxford Houses are managed day to day by their residents, funded by an equal share from each resident and required to stay substance-free. New members are voted in by the current residents, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

Certification and oversight in Arizona

Arizona requires recovery residences to hold a state licence. Arizona Recovery Housing Association (AzRHA), the state's NARR affiliate, offers voluntary certification. An Oxford House holds a charter from Oxford House, Inc. instead of state affiliate certification, which is why it is generally absent from state certified-home lists. A directory of certified residences is maintained for the state. Residents are protected by the federal Fair Housing Act and by Arizona Fair Housing Law (Arizona Revised Statutes Section 41-1491.14).
