About this Recovery House

New Life Development Recovery Housing is a recovery residence in Anchorage, Alaska, serving adults in the Municipality of Anchorage. Its two main buildings sit in East Anchorage and together hold up to 60 residents at a time.

Most people arrive here straight from residential substance treatment and keep going with an outpatient aftercare plan. Others come by way of withdrawal management and need a sober place to stay while a treatment bed opens up. Everyone has to be clean on arrival. If you are not, you complete withdrawal somewhere else first, then come back.

What This Anchorage Recovery Residence Provides

Staffing runs around the clock, with security on site, intensive case management, and NA and AA meetings held in the building. Staff also work with residents on securing permanent housing, which is the part that determines whether the stay actually leads anywhere.

Medication Rules At This Sober House

Medically assisted treatment is allowed. Residents prescribed methadone, Sublocade or Vivitrol can use those medications while living here. That single policy settles a question that closes doors elsewhere in Alaska and is worth confirming before you apply anywhere.

Recovery Housing With Practical Support On Site

Residents get free laundry machines, a computer lab, meeting space, a gym, a food pantry, hygiene products and a clothing donation shed. None of that is decoration. Rebuilding a routine is easier when you are not spending the day solving for clean clothes and a working computer.

Who This Recovery Home Accepts

Men, women, and single parents with children are all housed. Residents are expected to stay substance free throughout. This is a program rather than a tenancy, so entry runs through an application and an acceptance decision.

Municipality Of Anchorage Recovery Homes And Access

Anchorage holds most of the state's outpatient capacity, so a bed here puts a person within reach of continuing treatment without a flight or a long drive. For someone coming out of treatment from a smaller Alaskan community, that access is the whole point of relocating.
