Founded by Ronna Davis-Moore, Za'kiyah House Housing describes its mission as reducing homelessness, recidivism and addiction through community support rather than a clinical model, drawing on relationships within Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood and the surrounding area.

Two Recovery Homes in Allegheny County

The Susquehanna Street house sits in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood, and the Kirkpatrick Avenue house sits several miles east in Braddock, along the Monongahela River.

Licensed Under Pennsylvania's Act 59

Both houses carry a Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs license under Act 59 of 2017. Licensure is voluntary in the state, and holding it at both addresses puts the organization's housing on record with DDAP.

Men's and Women's Housing Kept Separate

The Pittsburgh house serves men and the Braddock house serves women, each running as its own single-gender household with its own house rules and meetings.

Support Beyond Housing

Za'kiyah House Housing also runs community outreach and a peer support group for people affected by gun violence, positioning recovery housing as one part of a broader response to the pressures facing its Homewood-area residents.
