Women In Transition
About Women In Transition
Women In Transition is a sober living operator in Angola, Indiana, providing long-term recovery housing for women in Steuben County. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit has run its program since 2003, combining evidence-based clinical treatment with structured, long-term housing.
A Steuben County Recovery Housing Provider
Women In Transition builds its program around evidence-based treatment models, including Moral Reconation Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Hazelden's 18-week Living in Balance curriculum, with a licensed social worker meeting residents three times a week. That clinical structure goes further than a typical peer-managed sober house.
A Long-Term, Employment-Focused Model
Residents work toward full-time employment or a minimum of twenty hours a week of volunteering, a requirement built around Women In Transition's stated goal of returning women to their communities as active, contributing members. Twelve-step meetings run alongside the clinical program throughout a resident's stay.
Two Decades of Operation
Women In Transition has operated continuously since 2003, giving it one of the longer track records among women's recovery housing providers in Northeast Indiana. That history is a meaningful data point in a region with relatively few dedicated women's programs to compare it against.
Serving Northeast Indiana
Angola is the seat of Steuben County, and Women In Transition describes its service area as reaching well beyond the county itself, into Fort Wayne, Auburn, LaGrange, Kendallville and the towns along the Michigan and Ohio state lines. For much of that wider region, Women In Transition is the closest dedicated women's recovery housing option available.
