Vitality Unlimited

About Vitality Unlimited

Vitality Unlimited is a sober living operator in Elko, Nevada, running recovery housing in Elko County and in Washoe County to the west. The nonprofit has delivered behavioral health services in the state since 1971, trades as Vitality Integrated Programs, and operates clinics, residential treatment and 24-hour crisis services in four communities.

Sober Living Homes in Elko and Sun Valley

Two of the organization's addresses are recovery housing:

  • Sage House, on Southside Drive in Elko, for men 18 and older.
  • Vitality Sober Living - Sun Valley, on El Rancho Drive in Sun Valley, immediately north of Reno.

Three hundred miles of high desert separate them, and they serve two entirely different markets. The Elko house is the only certified option for hundreds of miles in any direction. The Sun Valley house sits inside a metropolitan area of half a million people and competes with everything else in the Truckee Meadows.

A Recovery Housing Provider Built on a Clinical Base

The housing did not come first here. Vitality started as a treatment organization in 1971, opened one of the country's first Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics in 2017 and now runs four of them, with residential treatment in Elko and Carson City, outpatient and intensive outpatient care, primary care, and crisis lines that answer around the clock. Housing is one component inside that. A resident moving into either house keeps a prescriber, a counselor and a landlord inside a single organization, which removes the coordination problem that swallows most first months after treatment. The trade is that this is a clinical provider's housing, with the documentation and the schedule that come with that.

What This Operator Does Not Count as Recovery Housing

Vitality also owns and manages senior and low-income apartment properties, including Winchester Senior Apartments, High Desert Apartments, Chimney Rock Apartments and its Continuum of Care apartments. None of those is a sober living home, and several of them surface in listings as though they were. It runs business offices in Elko as well, including an annex on Lamoille Highway, which is a mailing address and not a bed. A person searching for recovery housing under this name should be looking at Elko and Sun Valley and nowhere else.

Certification Behind These Nevada Sober Homes

Nevada certifies no recovery residences and has licensed no sober living since 2023, so the state's behavioral health certification is the only public credential a Nevada house can generally point to. Both Vitality housing sites appear in the state's certified behavioral health provider search at the transitional housing service level, each with its own address and its own record, kept separate from the organization's post office box and its office suites. Checking the specific address takes a minute and is the closest thing to verification this state offers.

Recovery Homes for Rural and Northern Nevada

Rural Nevada is where this operator matters most. Vitality runs clinics in Elko, Carson City, Dayton and Reno, which covers the towns along the Interstate 80 and Highway 50 corridors where a person leaving treatment usually has no housing option at all within a two-hour drive. Somebody who completes residential treatment in Elko can move into housing in the same town under the same organization. Somebody who later takes work in the Reno area can move into the Sun Valley house and keep the clinical relationship. For a state this empty, an operator holding both ends of that route is doing something a single-city provider cannot.
