Sober Living America - Georgia
About Sober Living America - Georgia
Sober Living America is a sober living operator working across Atlanta, Georgia and nine other cities in the state, with additional houses in eleven states beyond it. The nonprofit has provided recovery housing for twenty-four years and keeps its administrative base in the Atlanta metro area, on the Peachtree Industrial corridor northeast of the city.
A Georgia Recovery Housing Provider With National Reach
Most recovery housing in Georgia is run by small local operators with one to four houses. This organization is built differently. It carries a single intake line, one program structure and one fee schedule across a network that spans the Southeast and reaches into the Midwest and Texas. The consequence for a resident is that the house is one address inside a system, and the system is what handles admission, transfers and the paperwork behind them.
Ten Georgia Sober Homes
Sober Living America houses residents in ten Georgia cities:
- Atlanta, in Fulton County.
- Marietta, the seat of Cobb County.
- Canton, the seat of Cherokee County.
- Duluth, in Gwinnett County.
- College Park, in south Fulton County.
- Jonesboro, the seat of Clayton County.
- Newnan, the seat of Coweta County.
- Gainesville, the seat of Hall County.
- Macon, the seat of Bibb County.
- Savannah, the seat of Chatham County.
Six of the ten sit inside metro Atlanta, and the rest anchor the three regional centers outside it. Street addresses are not published for the individual houses, and placement is arranged at intake.
Coed Sober Houses and Who They Serve
The Georgia residences are coed. In a state where most certified beds are single-gender and fill fast, that widens the pool of people an operator can place in any given week, and it lets partners in recovery stay inside the same organization. Program details vary by location, so capacity, curfew, house management and medication policy are questions for intake. Do not carry an answer from one city to another.
Program Fees at This Sober Living Operator
The operator publishes its rates by location. Atlanta is listed at $275 per week, or $1,975 per month under the Pinnacle Program, with fees subject to change. Published pricing is unusual in Georgia recovery housing and it lets a family run the arithmetic before making a call, which is most of what people want from a first conversation.
How Georgia Regulates Recovery Housing Providers
Georgia does not license recovery residences. The Georgia Attorney General's consumer division says so plainly and names the voluntary accrediting bodies that work in the state, including GARR, CARF and JCAHO. Evaluating an operator here means asking operator-level questions: how long it has housed people in Georgia, whether it takes referrals from treatment providers and courts, how deposits are documented and refunded, and how a complaint moves past the house manager to someone with authority over him.
Transfers Across a Multi-State Sober Living Network
Because the same organization runs houses in Tennessee, Florida, Texas, the Carolinas, Ohio and elsewhere, a resident whose work, family or safety points to another market can move without starting over. Early recovery is the period when people most often have to relocate and can least afford the disruption of doing it alone, and a network that spans a dozen states absorbs some of that cost.
