About Set Free Alaska
Set Free Alaska is a sober living operator in Palmer, Alaska, running recovery housing and residential treatment across the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It is a nonprofit, and it has been working in the Mat-Su Valley since 2010.
The Recovery Homes This Operator Runs
Two residential programs carry its housing work. Heritage House is a coed recovery residence on the organization's Christopher Walden House of Hope property in Palmer. Valley Oaks is a 16-bed residential program for women in Wasilla, including pregnant and postpartum women, where mothers can bring children under ten when beds allow. Neither publishes a house address, and placement runs through admissions.
A Recovery Housing Provider Built On A Campus Model
The Palmer property holds the sober living community alongside peer support, crisis stabilization and administration. Putting housing and services on one site means a resident is not driving between providers to assemble a week of support.
What This Sober Living Operator Believes
Care follows a mind-body-spirit approach that combines spiritual principles with clinical and therapeutic technique. It is one of the few state-certified Christian addiction treatment providers in the Mat-Su Valley, and it is accredited by CARF. Participation in spiritual activities is optional.
Men's And Women's Sober Houses Across Mat-Su
Running a coed residence in Palmer and a women's residential program in Wasilla lets the organization place people according to need. For women who will not enter a mixed setting, or for mothers who will not leave young children behind, that difference decides whether they enter treatment at all.
Serving Palmer, Wasilla And Homer
Alongside the Mat-Su operation, the organization runs outpatient services in Homer on the Kenai Peninsula. Its housing sits about 45 minutes north of Anchorage, close enough to the city for what Mat-Su lacks and far enough to be its own community.
