Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center
About Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center
Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center is a Michigan recovery housing provider and substance use treatment organization, delivering care in person and through virtual services across the state. Its recovery residences are the housing arm of a clinical operation: detox, residential and outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment and peer support all sit under the same organization, and the houses give people somewhere stable to live while that treatment runs.
A Sober Living Operator With Clinical Roots
Most recovery housing operators are housing organizations that send residents out for clinical care. Sacred Heart works the other way around. It is a treatment provider that added housing because discharge kept failing for want of an address, and the effect on a resident is direct: the prescriber, the outpatient program, the peer coach and the house rules all answer to one organization. A resident who moves between levels of care keeps the same records, the same clinicians and, frequently, the same peer coach.
Three Recovery Residences Across Michigan
Sacred Heart operates recovery housing in three counties, each residence certified individually:
- A women's residence in Port Huron, in St. Clair County.
- A women's residence in Benton Harbor, in Berrien County, recorded as ADA accessible.
- A men's residence in Madison Heights, in Oakland County.
No street addresses are published for any of the three, and applications go through the organization. The spread is deliberate: Port Huron covers the Thumb, Benton Harbor covers southwest Michigan, and Madison Heights covers Metro Detroit, each paired with the organization's clinical sites in the same county.
Men's and Women's Sober Houses Under One Provider
All three residences are single-gender, two for women and one for men, and each is certified at Level 3. Sacred Heart also runs a women's specialty treatment program, and the two women's houses fit inside it. Keeping the split at the house level means the expectations and the shared space are written for one population, and a referral from a treatment program can be matched to the right household in the right county in a single call.
MARR and NARR Accreditation Across the Housing Program
Sacred Heart states that its housing program is accredited through both the Michigan Association of Recovery Residences and the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, and MARR lists all three residences at Level 3. Michigan issues no license for recovery housing, so this is voluntary. An operator carrying certification at every address has accepted a code of ethics, advance written disclosure of fees and rules, written relapse and discharge policies, and a complaint process that reaches outside the house.
How This Recovery Housing Provider Is Funded
Housing is paid for through limited grant dollars for people living in specific counties, with an affordable self-pay rate published for anyone who does not qualify for county funding. Grant funding is finite, so availability moves, and county of residence is part of every intake conversation. For someone leaving treatment with no income, this is one of the few Michigan operators with a funded path in.
Peer Recovery Coaching as This Operator's Method
Every housing participant is connected to outpatient substance use services and to community resources, and each one works with a peer recovery coach to develop a wellness plan. Medication-assisted treatment is welcomed at all three residences, and the organization provides it. Anyone comparing Michigan sober homes should ask what happens when a resident relapses, how long a bed is held, and how a complaint moves past the house; certification obliges answers to all three, and a provider this size should have them in writing.
