About One Unique Recovery House, Inc.

One Unique Recovery House, Inc. is a sober living operator in Buckhannon, West Virginia, running two certified recovery residences in Upshur County. Known as OUR House, the organization holds a six-bed men's residence and an eight-bed women's residence, both at $400 a month with Recovery Housing Program voucher eligibility.

A Central West Virginia Recovery Housing Provider

Upshur County sits in the middle of the state, rural, mountainous and thinly served. Buckhannon is the county seat and the home of West Virginia Wesleyan College, and it is the only place in the county with the courts, the hospital and the employment that recovery housing depends on. Two certified houses here represent most of the county's certified capacity.

OUR House Recovery Homes

  • A six-bed men's residence on Meadow Street at Level 2.
  • An eight-bed women's residence on Hart Avenue at Level 1.

Men's and Women's Sober Houses at Different Levels

The men's house carries Level 2 certification, describing monitored housing with structured expectations. The women's house sits at Level 1, the lightest tier, where residents largely hold the rules themselves. Running the two at different levels means the operator serves two different populations in a county that could not otherwise support either separately.

What a Bed Costs, and What Is Included

The fee is $400 a month at both addresses, published as covering program fees, utilities and internet. Both houses are eligible for Recovery Housing Program vouchers, which cover a new low-income resident's first forty-five days at no cost. In a rural county where wages are low and the alternative is often no certified housing at all, the voucher is what makes the door usable.

Certification and Medication Policy

Both residences are certified by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, and both accept residents on medication for opioid use disorder.
