Next Step Sober Living describes itself as a non-profit, non-denominational ministry. That framing sets the provider apart from a commercial housing company: the organization presents its housing as service work, and its house culture is built on faith without requiring a particular denomination of anyone living in it.

Why Next Step Sober Living Exists

The organization was built around one observation: the men who do not sustain recovery are usually the ones who left treatment and went straight back into ordinary life without a sober living stage in between. Next Step Sober Living exists to supply that stage, and it accepts men aged 21 and older.

Certification and the State Registry

RICARES certifies the Next Step Sober Living residence in Lincoln at NARR Level 2, most recently recertified on 13 February 2026. Rhode Island's Behavioral Health Open Beds registry carries the provider as well, so a treatment program or a discharge planner can check availability through the state system.

Lincoln and the Blackstone Valley

Next Step Sober Living works from Lincoln, in the northern half of Providence County. The towns within reach are Cumberland, Central Falls, Pawtucket, North Providence and Woonsocket, all along the Blackstone Valley corridor, which gives a resident access to the meeting schedule and the employers of the state's second largest population center while living outside a city.
