MVP Recovery

About MVP Recovery

MVP Recovery is a sober living operator based in Chester, Pennsylvania, running licensed recovery homes across Delaware and Chester counties. Founded in 2014, it describes itself as one of the first and largest sober living programs licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, and it now operates 23 recovery houses for men and women in Chester, Media, Phoenixville and West Chester.

A Delaware and Chester County Sober Living Operator

MVP Recovery is a housing organization. Its houses supply structure, peer accountability and a stable address, and residents keep their own outpatient counselors, prescribers and 12-step meetings outside the house. The operator's part is keeping housing, fees and rules consistent across every address, which is the part a resident notices most when a transfer between houses comes up.

Fourteen houses are for men and nine are for women, and the split holds at the address level: no house mixes genders. Chester, in Delaware County, carries the largest share of the portfolio, with Media close by in the same county and a smaller Chester County cluster in Phoenixville and West Chester.

Men's and Women's Sober Houses, Kept Separate

Every MVP Recovery residence houses one gender. Bathrooms, common space and the weekly house meeting are single-gender by address, so a man applies to one of the men's houses and a woman applies to one of the women's houses. A resident who later needs a different address keeps the same operator and the same program while moving to a house built for the same population.

What Pennsylvania Recovery House Licensure Establishes

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs licenses recovery houses under Act 59 of 2017, and licensure in Pennsylvania is voluntary, so an operator that holds it has chosen to work inside a published set of standards. MVP Recovery is licensed under Act 59, and every house on this page operates under that license. The operator also holds accreditation from The Joint Commission, the same body that accredits hospitals and behavioral health providers nationally, which adds an outside, periodic review of its policies and performance on top of the state license.

MVP Recovery's Three-Phase Sober Living Program

Residents move through a structured three-phase program that typically takes nine to twelve months, with outside professional counseling and 12-step meeting attendance required throughout. MVP Recovery's own staff provide recovery coaching, case management, peer support and employment assistance alongside the housing, and the program accepts Medicaid, county funding and commercial insurance, which keeps the houses open to residents referred by county case managers as well as those who arrange placement on their own.

Support for Medication-Assisted Recovery

MVP Recovery runs a Medicated Supported Recovery track built for residents on medication for opioid use disorder, including buprenorphine and methadone. Acceptance of medication-assisted treatment is not universal across sober living, and an operator that builds a program around it keeps a resident's medical treatment and their housing from working against each other.

Applying to an MVP Recovery Sober House

Applications go through MVP Recovery at the operator level. The questions worth asking at the operator level: which of the 23 addresses has an open bed for the applicant's gender, how the three-phase program's requirements change across the nine to twelve months, whether the Medicated Supported Recovery track fits a resident already on a prescribed medication, and how a transfer between MVP Recovery houses works if the first placement is not the right fit. MVP Recovery's Pennsylvania license can be confirmed through the state's recovery house locator.
