Life After Meth, Inc. is a sober living operator based in Vincennes, Indiana, running certified recovery housing in Knox County since it began working inside the Knox County Jail in 2007.

A Knox County Recovery Housing Provider

Life After Meth grew out of a group of ministers, social workers and recovering addicts who began meeting in Westphalia, Knox County, in 2005 to address a local methamphetamine crisis. The organization received its 501(c)(3) status that same year and moved into jail-based programming by 2007.

Men's and Women's Sober Houses in Vincennes

Life After Meth operates a men's house on Washington Avenue in Vincennes, holding nine men, alongside a separate women's house that has operated since 2013 and now includes a small apartment for a mother and up to two children. Splitting the genders across two households keeps house rules and meetings specific to each population.

NARR Certification Through INARR

Both Life After Meth residences were re-certified to INARR standards in 2022, with a final site visit completed by the state's Division of Mental Health and Addiction. That combination of jail-based recovery work and state-designated housing is unusual for an operator this size.

A Faith-Based, Peer-Facilitated Model

Life After Meth's programming is explicitly faith-based and peer-facilitated, built on the 12 steps and delivered first inside the Knox County Jail before residents ever reach one of the houses. Community partners include the Knox County Sheriff's Department, Knox County Community Foundation and the United Way.

Serving Southwest Indiana

Vincennes anchors Knox County and southwest Indiana more broadly. Life After Meth's model, recovery support beginning at the jail and continuing into certified housing, gives residents a single continuous path instead of a series of disconnected referrals.
