Operating locally as the Union Gospel Mission of Missoula, Hope Rescue Mission has worked in the Missoula Valley since 1999, running shelter, outreach and recovery programs for people experiencing homelessness and addiction. Its recovery housing for women is one part of a larger set of services that also includes a thrift operation and general drop-in support.

Level 3 Certification Under Recovery Access Montana

The organization's women's recovery residence holds Level 3 certification from Recovery Access Montana, Montana's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Level 3 describes supervised housing with structured programming, a step up from a purely peer-run model, and reflects the population Hope Rescue Mission works with: women often arriving directly from incarceration, domestic violence, or long-term homelessness.

A Long-Term, Family-Centered Program

Hope Rescue Mission's recovery housing runs on a twelve to eighteen month timeline and is built to keep mothers and their children together instead of treating custody and recovery as separate problems. Case management, addiction recovery services and work readiness support all run alongside the housing itself, reflecting how much longer it takes to rebuild a family's stability than it does to complete treatment alone.

Serving Missoula and the Surrounding Valley

Missoula is the seat of Missoula County and the largest city in western Montana, and Hope Rescue Mission draws women into its program from across the surrounding valley and beyond. The organization's decades of local work give it standing with courts, case managers and referral partners that a newer operator would need years to build.
