About Gateway Christian Church

Gateway Christian Church is a men's sober living operator in Saint Albans, West Virginia, running three certified recovery residences in Kanawha County. The church operates sixteen beds across three houses, waives the first two weeks of fees at every one of them, and holds certification at two different levels.

A Church-Based Recovery Housing Provider

Faith-based recovery housing is common in West Virginia and inconsistently regulated, which is exactly why certification matters more here than anywhere else. All three of these houses carry certification from the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, meaning they operate under a published code of ethics, written fee and rule disclosure, and an external complaint process.

Gateway Christian Church Recovery Homes

  • A four-bed men's residence on 4th Avenue at Level 1.
  • Arrington Hall on C Street, a seven-bed men's residence at Level 2.
  • Bradbury Hall on C Street, a five-bed men's residence at Level 2.

Arrington Hall and Bradbury Hall sit next door to each other on the same block.

Two Weeks Free at Every Sober House

The first two weeks carry no charge at all three addresses. After that, the 4th Avenue house charges $125 a week and the two C Street halls charge $100. Waiving the opening fortnight targets the exact window in which a man leaving treatment has no paycheck and no savings, which is when most placements fail before they start.

Level 1 and Level 2 Men's Recovery Housing

The 4th Avenue house sits at Level 1, the peer-run tier where residents hold the rules themselves. The two halls carry Level 2, monitored housing with structured expectations and outside clinical care. Running both lets the church place a man according to how much structure he needs.

Certification and Medication Policy

All three residences are certified by the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences, and all three accept residents on Sublocade and Vivitrol.
