About Foundation for Family Life / Mentorworks

Foundation for Family Life / Mentorworks is a sober living operator in Riverton, Utah, in Salt Lake County, running the MentorWorks reentry mentorship program.

A Reentry-Focused Housing Provider

Foundation for Family Life does not describe itself as a conventional sober living operator. Its work centers on MentorWorks, which pairs stable housing with a personal mentor assigned to help each participant build a sustainable plan for work, sobriety and family relationships after leaving correctional custody.

Three Houses in Riverton

The organization operates three residences in Riverton:

  • Redwood Place, on West 13200 South.
  • Vine Recovery Residence, on West 12600 South.
  • Myers Place, on West 11800 South.

All three sit within a few miles of each other in the same part of the city, which keeps participants close to the same mentors, staffing partners and support network regardless of which house they are placed in.

Employment Through Wasatch Staffing

Foundation for Family Life partners with Wasatch Staffing to place MentorWorks participants into jobs, addressing one of the most immediate needs facing someone leaving incarceration: income. Tying employment support directly to the housing program means a resident does not have to search for both a job and a place to live at the same time.

Mentorship as the Program's Core

Every MentorWorks participant is assigned a personal mentor, a structure that goes beyond the house rules and curfews typical of standard sober living. The mentor relationship is meant to carry a participant through the specific risks of the reentry period, when the chance of losing housing, work or sobriety all at once is highest.

Licensing Under Utah Law

Utah requires operators of this kind of housing to hold a license from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Office of Licensing under Utah Code 26B-2-117 and the Recovery Residence Services rule. Utah runs a single-regulator system with no certification levels statewide.

Serving Salt Lake County's Southwestern Valley

Riverton's location in the southwestern Salt Lake Valley puts Foundation for Family Life's houses within reach of the county's larger job market while keeping participants in a quieter setting than downtown Salt Lake City, a combination that supports the program's focus on steady work and stability.
