Divided Sky Foundation

About Divided Sky Foundation

Divided Sky Foundation is a recovery housing provider in Ludlow, Vermont, running a nonprofit residential recovery program in Windsor County. The foundation opened its campus in the Okemo Valley in 2023 and operates a non-clinical, abstinence-based program for adults, funded and priced deliberately below the cost of medical treatment.

An Affordable Vermont Recovery Housing Provider

Cost is the organizing principle here. The foundation states plainly that recovery should not come with a heavy financial burden, and its educational model is designed to be far more affordable than most medical treatment options. Partial scholarships are available. For someone without insurance, or whose insurance will not cover a residential stay, that pricing is the difference between a program and nothing.

A Non-Clinical Approach to Residential Recovery

The program is not a treatment center and does not present itself as one. It runs on the twelve steps, mindfulness practice, music, group discussion, life skills and daily nature walks, with emotional sobriety as the organizing idea. Guests must be medically stable and at least twenty years old. People arrive after detox, as an alternative to a clinical residential program, or after a relapse, and the foundation is explicit that it welcomes all three.

Programs of Different Lengths

The main program runs about thirty days as a twelve-step immersion with daily group meetings, music discussions, nature walks and physical activity, and guests may join at any time. A separate one-week program serves people already in sustained recovery who want to go deeper into mindfulness practice and study the twelve steps alongside local recovery community volunteers. Running both means the foundation serves people at the start of a recovery and people maintaining one.

Certification Status and Vermont Recovery Housing

Vermont certifies recovery residences through the Vermont Alliance for Recovery Residences on a voluntary basis, and this program does not appear on the affiliate's published list of certified residences. The program's structure differs from a long-stay recovery residence, and anyone comparing it against a sober house should ask directly about fees, discharge and what support exists after the thirty days end.
