DCCCA

About DCCCA

DCCCA is a Kansas nonprofit behavioral health provider running residential recovery programs in Lawrence and Wichita, including two women's programs and a men's program serving Douglas and Sedgwick counties. The organization has operated across the state for decades, combining housing with substance use treatment on site.

A Statewide Kansas Recovery Housing Provider

DCCCA is a treatment organization first, and its residential sites give a place to live to people who need supervised housing during active substance use treatment. Clinical care, detoxification and counseling are delivered on site, which sets DCCCA's model apart from sober living homes that provide housing only.

Serving Lawrence and Wichita

Three DCCCA residential programs operate in this part of Kansas:

  • First Step at Lake View, on West 31st Street in Lawrence, for women.
  • Women's Recovery Center, on East Orme Street in Wichita, for women.
  • Options Adult Services, on East Orme Street in Wichita, for men.

The two Wichita programs share a single campus, which keeps administration and referrals in one place even though the men's and women's households run separately.

Serving Women and Men Separately

DCCCA keeps its residential programs single-gender at the house level. Women apply to First Step at Lake View in Lawrence or the Women's Recovery Center in Wichita, and men apply to Options Adult Services in Wichita. Splitting by house keeps meetings, schedules and shared space focused on one population at each address.

Treatment and Housing Combined

Unlike an operator that provides housing only, DCCCA delivers individual and group counseling, non-medical detoxification and childcare directly at its residential sites, most notably at the Women's Recovery Center in Wichita, where on-site childcare removes a barrier that keeps many mothers out of treatment altogether.

A Kansas Recovery Provider Without a State Certification

Kansas has no statewide certifying body for recovery residences, so DCCCA's own decades of continuous operation, combined with its licensed treatment services, are what a family evaluating its programs should look at, since no such credential exists in this state.
