Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery

About Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery

Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery is a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania sober living operator running two men's recovery houses in Dauphin County.

A Harrisburg Recovery Housing Nonprofit

Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery operates as a nonprofit organization with a faith-based orientation, a common model among Pennsylvania's licensed recovery houses. The organization houses men in recovery, with outside providers handling clinical treatment.

Two Men's Houses in Harrisburg

Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery runs:

• A men's house on Canby Street.
• A men's house on Walnut Street.

Both sit in the Allison Hill section of the city, close enough that a resident can move between them without leaving the neighborhood.

Licensed Under Act 59 at Both Locations

Both Daystar houses are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs as recovery houses under Act 59 of 2017. Licensure is voluntary in Pennsylvania, and an organization carrying it at every address it runs has opted into DDAP's inspection and disclosure requirements.

A Spiritual Approach to Recovery Housing

The center's name points to a faith-based model layered on top of standard house structure. What that involves day to day, and how much participation it expects, is a question to bring to the organization directly.

One Nonprofit, Two Allison Hill Addresses

A man applying to Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery is considered for either the Canby Street or Walnut Street house. Keeping both houses in the same neighborhood means a transfer between them does not disrupt a resident's bus route, providers or job.

Serving Harrisburg's Capital Region

Harrisburg is the seat of Dauphin County and the state capital, with UPMC Harrisburg, the county courthouse and Harrisburg Area Community College all inside the city. Both Daystar houses put residents inside that same network of services.
