Dallas Sober Living Solutions

About Dallas Sober Living Solutions

Dallas Sober Living Solutions is a sober living operator based in Dallas, Texas, running four recovery homes across North Texas. Chris McGuire, who has spent fourteen years in sober living, co-founded the company with DJ Walker after previously serving as a state coordinator overseeing more than fifty properties for another nonprofit sober living network.

A North Texas Sober Living Operator

Dallas Sober Living Solutions is a housing organization first. The company sets the fee structure, the testing standard and the day-to-day expectations at each address, while clinical care runs through outside providers the operator partners with, including Harmony Road Recovery for outpatient and medication-assisted treatment and Mantra Recovery for coaching and sober companion services.

Serving Dallas, Richardson and Plano

Four sober living homes carry the Dallas Sober Living Solutions name:

  • Napier House, on Napier Drive in Richardson, for men.
  • Timberleaf House, on Timberleaf Drive in Dallas, for men.
  • Graystone House, on Arbor Park Drive in Dallas, for men.
  • Downtown Plano House, on 17th Street in Plano, for women.

Three houses sit inside the city of Dallas and Richardson, both in Dallas County, while the fourth is a short drive north in Plano. That compact footprint means a resident who transfers between houses stays inside the same transit network and the same outpatient relationships.

Men's and Women's Sober Houses Under One Standard

Three of the four houses serve men and one serves women, and every house runs the same base testing and step-work standard regardless of price point. Graystone House charges more than the others for private suites and added amenities, but the underlying accountability structure, weekly meetings and drug testing, applies across the portfolio.

Texas Sober Living Certification and This Operator

Texas has one certifying body, the Texas Recovery Oriented Housing Network, known as TROHN, and certification is voluntary statewide. None of Dallas Sober Living Solutions' four houses currently appears on TROHN's certified list, which in Texas is common and not a sign of a problem: certification is optional, and most private sober homes in the state never apply.

One Operator, Four Addresses

Applications for any of the four houses go through Dallas Sober Living Solutions directly, which is the practical advantage of choosing a multi-house operator over a single independent home. A resident who needs to change houses after move-in, whether for cost, privacy or a different set of housemates, is having that conversation with an organization that already knows him instead of starting over somewhere new.

Recovery Housing Across North Texas

Dallas Sober Living Solutions' service area centers on the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, though the company has stated it can place residents as far as Austin, San Antonio and Houston. For most residents, the four in-house addresses in Dallas, Richardson and Plano are the practical option, backed by an operator with more than a decade of combined experience running sober housing in North Texas.
