About Choice House

Choice House is a men's addiction recovery operator based in Boulder, Colorado, running a residential treatment campus in the city and roughly 14 transitional sober living homes in nearby Louisville, both in Boulder County. Men move through the operator's phased continuum starting at the Boulder campus and, for most, continuing into the Louisville sober living network as they gain independence.

A Boulder County Sober Living Operator

Choice House treats its recovery housing as a single continuous program spanning both cities. The Boulder campus delivers a licensed 90-day residential phase built around trauma work, attachment-focused therapy and co-occurring mental health care, with a clinical team of individual therapists, case managers, a program director and weekly psychiatric and medical appointments available throughout. From there, residents step down into intensive outpatient care paired with structured sober living, and finally into a more independent third phase, all without changing operators or clinical teams.

Louisville's Transitional Sober Living Homes

Choice House's Louisville network houses between 30 and 40 men across 43 bedrooms in roughly 14 individual residences:

  • Griffith
  • Johnson, the operator's alumni house
  • Main A and Main B
  • Front A, Front B and Front C
  • Cannon A and Cannon B
  • Harper A, Harper B and Harper C
  • Triplex A and Triplex B, two units in one building
  • Mike's Place

None of the individual street addresses are published. Choice House confirms exact placement with residents and families during admissions.

Recovery Housing Certified Through Ohio Recovery Housing - Colorado

Choice House's Louisville residences are certified through Ohio Recovery Housing - Colorado, the state's BHA-approved certifying body for recovery residences, which replaced the Colorado Association of Recovery Residences in mid-2025. Certification commits an operator to a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and rules, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process that runs independent of the house.

A Structured, Peer-Supported Continuum

Across every residence, Choice House requires four twelve-step meetings a week with sponsorship, holds community meetings on a set schedule, and runs the H.E.R.D. program for residents not yet employed or in school. Group therapy starts at nine hours a week early in a resident's stay and steps down as stability builds, a taper the operator applies consistently across the whole network, tied to each resident's own progress.

Outdoor Programming and Alumni Support

A dedicated director of outdoor activities leads hiking and skiing trips during the earlier phases of treatment, and Choice House maintains an active alumni program, including a dedicated alumni residence in Louisville, that keeps former residents connected to the clinical team and to each other after formal discharge.

Serving Boulder and Louisville, Colorado

Boulder, the county seat, and Louisville sit a few miles apart on Colorado's northern Front Range, and Choice House built its program around that short distance: residents can move from the residential campus into transitional housing without leaving the outpatient providers, employers and recovery community they have already started to rely on.
