About Centerstone of Indiana, Inc.
Centerstone of Indiana, Inc. is a sober living operator providing recovery transitional housing across Bloomington, Columbus and Nashville, Indiana, in South Central Indiana's Monroe, Bartholomew and Brown counties. Centerstone is a nonprofit behavioral health system that added residential recovery housing to its continuum of care in 2018, when it launched Centerstone Recovery Transitional Housing to give people leaving treatment a stable address while they rebuild the rest of a life in recovery.
A South Central Indiana Recovery Housing Provider
Centerstone's Indiana housing sits inside a much larger behavioral health organization, so residents keep access to case management, life skills training and employment support without leaving the same system that manages their clinical care. The housing side of the operation supplies the address, the structure and the daily accountability. Discharge planning, naloxone and overdose education and recovery coaching run alongside it, which matters for anyone whose first months out of treatment carry a real risk of relapse.
Four Recovery Homes Across Three Indiana Counties
Centerstone runs four sober living homes in this part of the state:
- The Whitney, on Whitney Court in Columbus, in Bartholomew County.
- A recovery transitional home on Tuck A Way Ridge Drive in Nashville, in Brown County.
- Recovery Transitional Housing for women and their children, on East Second Street in Bloomington.
- Recovery House, on North Rogers Street in Bloomington, for adults in recovery.
Two of the four sit in Bloomington, the seat of Monroe County, and one each in Columbus and Nashville, the seats of Bartholomew and Brown counties. That spread lets Centerstone move a resident between houses without moving them out of a county where their job, their court obligations or their outpatient providers already are.
Housing for Women and Their Children
The East Second Street home in Bloomington runs as part of Centerstone Recovery Transitional Housing, a program built specifically so a mother does not have to choose between custody and treatment. Women in recovery live there with their young children while they build recovery capital, hold a job and work toward permanent housing, an option that a standard single-adult sober house cannot offer.
Certification Levels Across the Portfolio
Indiana's Family and Social Services Administration designates recovery residences at Levels II, III and IV, and every Centerstone Indiana address in this cluster carries a designation: Level II in Nashville and Level III at the other three. Designation is not automatic. Indiana law requires it before a residence can use the words "recovery residence" in its name or receive state reimbursement through programs like Recovery Works, so a Centerstone address carrying a level has agreed to the inspection and standards that come with it. The Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences is the state's NARR affiliate behind that standard.
One Referral Path Across Three Counties
Because Centerstone runs its Indiana clinical and housing services under one organization, a referral into any of these four homes typically starts with the same intake process the behavioral health side already uses. That matters for someone stepping down from Centerstone's own detox or residential treatment, and it matters just as much for a referral from a court, a hospital or another provider who wants a resident's housing and clinical records to stay connected instead of starting over at a new agency.
Serving Monroe, Bartholomew and Brown Counties
Bloomington anchors Indiana University and a large outpatient and hospital network; Columbus is a regional employment center built around advanced manufacturing; Nashville, the Brown County seat, is smaller and more rural, with tourism and service jobs standing in for the larger labor markets nearby. A Centerstone resident in any of the three keeps access to public transit, courts and treatment appointments without leaving the county where the rest of their case is already being handled.
