Cenikor Foundation's Sober Living
About Cenikor Foundation
Cenikor Foundation is a nonprofit sober living operator running recovery housing in Irving, Texas, in Dallas County, along with five more locations across the state. The program pairs affordable rent with a peer-driven recovery community, giving people who have finished detox, residential treatment or an outpatient program a stable, structured place to keep building a life in recovery.
A Statewide Sober Living Operator in Texas
Cenikor Foundation is one of the larger addiction treatment organizations working in Texas, and its recovery housing is the piece that picks up after the clinical program ends. Residents move in once they have completed a residential, detox or outpatient episode of care, and the housing itself does not deliver treatment. Its job is to keep a resident housed, employed or in school, and connected to a recovery community while independent living becomes realistic again.
Recovery Housing From Detox to Independent Living
Every Cenikor recovery housing location runs on the same model: a peer-driven community with daytime staff on site and a recovery coach assigned to each resident. Residents keep working, studying or volunteering while they live there, and the coaching relationship is meant to catch the early problems that end a recovery before they end it. The housing functions as a bridge inside Cenikor's own continuum, so a resident can move from residential treatment into one of these homes and from there into outpatient care or alumni support without changing organizations.
Affordable Recovery Housing at $100 a Week
Rent starts at $100 a week across the Cenikor network, a price point set deliberately low because most residents are rebuilding income from nothing. That figure matters more than it looks: a resident who cannot afford stable housing after treatment is one of the more common reasons a recovery does not hold, and Cenikor prices its housing to remove that specific risk.
Cenikor Foundation Recovery Homes Across Texas
Cenikor operates recovery housing in six Texas communities:
- Recovery housing on Texas Drive in Irving, for men.
- Recovery housing on Wallace Boulevard in Amarillo, for men.
- Recovery housing on McBride Lane in Corpus Christi, for men.
- Recovery housing on Glenwood Avenue in Deer Park, for men.
- Recovery housing on Herring Avenue in Waco, for men.
- Alpha Home on Magnolia Avenue in San Antonio, for women.
The spread runs from the Panhandle to the Gulf Coast, which means a resident referred from almost anywhere in Texas has a Cenikor location within reasonable reach.
Alpha Home Joins the Cenikor Network
Alpha Home has served women in San Antonio since 1966, and it joined Cenikor Foundation in April 2025, bringing its women's residential and outpatient recovery services under Cenikor's umbrella. The pairing gives Alpha Home's residents access to a larger organization's grant funding and clinical network while keeping the San Antonio program and its decades of local standing intact.
Who Cenikor's Recovery Housing Serves
These homes suit someone who has already been through a residential or outpatient program and needs housing to hold while the rest of a routine comes back together: a job, a class schedule, ongoing outpatient care. Cenikor takes referrals from its own treatment programs and from outside providers across the state, and men and women are always housed separately by location.
