About Behind The Wire Ministries Inc.
Behind The Wire Ministries Inc. is a sober living operator in Loogootee, Indiana, providing certified recovery housing for men reentering society after incarceration in Martin County and the surrounding region.
A Faith-Based Reentry Housing Provider
Founded in 2019 by Scott and Dannielle Highberger, Behind The Wire Ministries grew out of direct prison ministry work into a nonprofit running transitional housing, mentorship and job placement for men leaving incarceration. The organization's name reflects its origin: work with the incarcerated population, carried forward into the housing it now operates.
Level III Certified Recovery Housing
Behind The Wire Ministries' Indiana housing carries Level III certification through the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences, the state's NARR affiliate. Certification requires a published code of ethics, on-site supervision, and written disclosure of fees and rules, on top of the organization's own program handbook.
A Public Ministry Alongside the Housing
Behind The Wire Ministries runs a weekly chapel service in Loogootee open to the public, and the organization's founders speak publicly about incarceration and recovery beyond the housing program itself. That public-facing ministry work is part of how the organization builds the community support its reentry model depends on.
Serving Southwest Indiana
Behind The Wire Ministries operates in two communities in southwest Indiana, Loogootee in Martin County and Jasper in Dubois County, giving men leaving incarceration in this part of the state a faith-based transitional housing option close to home.
Reaching Behind The Wire Ministries
Applications route through the organization's intake application, and referrals from correctional facilities, courts and other reentry programs are part of the organization's regular intake.
