Acacia Network
About Acacia Network
Acacia Network is a sober living operator and human services organization headquartered in the Bronx, New York, running licensed residential addiction programs across New York City and upstate. Rooted in the community since 1969, it is one of the leading human services organizations in New York City and one of the largest Hispanic-led nonprofits in the state, reaching more than 150,000 people a year.
A New York Recovery Housing Provider at Scale
The numbers describe an organization of a size that has few parallels in this field. More than 2,700 employees. Over 100 affiliates and related entities. Programs across four boroughs of New York City and in Buffalo, Albany, Dunkirk, Rochester and Syracuse, with additional operations in Maryland, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Connecticut and Puerto Rico. Health, housing, social services, economic development and cultural work all sit under one roof, and the addiction residences are one part of that.
Sober Homes and Residential Programs Across the City
The residential addiction portfolio in New York State includes:
- El Regreso, on South Third Street and South 2nd Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with separate men's and women's residences.
- Greenhope Services for Women, on East 119th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan.
- Lorraine Montenegro Women and Children's Residence, on Prospect Avenue in the Bronx.
- La Casita III, on East 151st Street in the Bronx.
- Franklin House and the BASICS adult male residential program, on Franklin Avenue in the Bronx.
- Promesa RRSY, the youth residential program on East 175th Street in the Bronx.
- J-CAP, on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens.
- Out Of The Darkness, on Saint Bridgets Drive in Rochester, Monroe County.
- The Clay Avenue detox, rehabilitation and methadone-to-abstinence programs in the Bronx.
Men's, Women's and Adolescent Recovery Homes
The residences are organized by population instead of being run as one undifferentiated pool of beds. Adult men have dedicated programs in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Adult women have four residences, several of which accept children. Young men aged 14 to 20 have a separate youth program licensed under the state's residential rehabilitation standard for youth. Someone calling on behalf of a pregnant woman, a teenager and a middle-aged man would be pointed at three different buildings, which is the advantage of a portfolio this wide.
State Licensure Across This Sober Living Operator's Portfolio
Every residential addiction program listed here is licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports, most under Part 820 for adult residential services and the youth program under Part 817. Recovery residences in New York are not required to hold any credential at all, so an operator that carries state licensure across its entire residential portfolio has accepted inspection, staffing regulation and review of admission and discharge practice on every site it runs.
One Intake, Many Levels of Care
What a large network offers that a standalone house cannot is movement. Acacia Network runs medication-assisted treatment, opioid treatment programs, chemical dependency outpatient clinics in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Albany and Buffalo, a detox and rehabilitation center, primary care, mental health clinics, supportive and affordable housing and workforce development. A resident stepping down from a residence into outpatient care, or needing a primary care doctor or a housing referral, is usually staying inside one organization and one record. Behavioral health admissions are handled centrally.
Who These New York Sober Homes Are For
The residences suit people coming out of detox, hospital care, jail or the street who need clinical treatment and a place to live at the same time. Acacia Network accepts parolees and probationers and provides placements as an alternative to incarceration and after release. Anyone who needs only peer-run housing without clinical services is looking at a different kind of program. Anyone who needs both at once, in Spanish or in English, is looking at the largest such network in New York City.
