A Way Out Sober Living
About A Way Out Sober Living
A Way Out Sober Living is a Minnesota sober living operator based in the Twin Cities metro, running more than a dozen certified and uncertified recovery homes for men and women across the state. The organization's footprint runs from Dassel in Meeker County through the western metro suburbs to Northfield in Rice County, with its largest single cluster of houses in Shakopee.
A Statewide Minnesota Sober Living Operator
A Way Out Sober Living is a housing organization, not a clinical provider. It supplies structure, a fee schedule and a set of house rules, while residents keep their own outpatient providers, prescribers and meetings elsewhere. The operator's job is to run each house consistently, so a resident moving between its properties finds the same expectations and the same application process regardless of which city they land in.
Homes Across the Twin Cities and Central Minnesota
A Way Out Sober Living's Minnesota houses include:
- Pleasantview Home, on Pleasantview Road in Eden Prairie, for men.
- Waverly Home, on Pacifica Avenue in Waverly, for women.
- Matt's Home, on Elm Street in Delano, for men.
- Scott's Home, on Woodley Street East in Northfield, for men, licensed as Group Residential Housing.
- Park Avenue Home, on Park Avenue in Minneapolis, for women.
- Lakeview Ranch, on Highway 15 in Dassel, coed and accessible, with support animals accepted.
- Blake's Home, on Century Avenue South in Maplewood, for men.
- Boiling Springs Step-Up Home, Havenview Step-Up Home, Hilldale Home, 5th Ave Home and Westwind Home, a cluster of men's and coed houses in Shakopee.
- Danielle's Home, a women's house in Shakopee.
That is thirteen houses across eight Minnesota cities, giving the operator a genuine statewide footprint beyond any single city.
Housing for Men and Women in Recovery
A Way Out Sober Living runs single-gender houses for both men and women, with the Shakopee cluster and Lakeview Ranch in Dassel adding coed and Group Residential Housing options into the mix. That range means the operator can typically place a referral somewhere in its network regardless of gender or GRH funding status.
MASH Certification Across a Mixed Portfolio
Several of the operator's houses, including Matt's Home, Scott's Home, Lakeview Ranch, Blake's Home and the Shakopee cluster, hold certification through the Minnesota Association of Sober Homes, the state's NARR affiliate. Certification in Minnesota is voluntary and is granted house by house, so a certified operator with some uncertified addresses is not unusual and is not a mark against the properties that have not yet gone through the process.
A Concentration of Houses in Shakopee and Scott County
Shakopee, the seat of Scott County, carries the single largest concentration of A Way Out Sober Living properties, with five or more houses split between men's and coed arrangements. That density lets the operator move a resident between houses in the same city without disrupting a job, a court schedule or a GRH placement administered out of the same county office.
One Operator, Group Residential Housing Access
Several A Way Out Sober Living houses, including Scott's Home in Northfield and the Shakopee cluster, are licensed as Group Residential Housing, the state program that funds room and board for qualifying residents. Working with an operator that runs both GRH and privately-paid houses gives a case manager or a resident more than one funding path to the same network of housing.
Applying Across A Way Out Sober Living's Network
Applications go through A Way Out Sober Living directly, with a $250 application fee applied across its houses. The questions worth asking at the operator level are which of its thirteen Minnesota houses currently has an open bed, which are GRH-eligible, and how a transfer between cities works if a placement needs to change.
